Philadelphia Vietnam Veterans Memorial

Philadelphia Vietnam Veterans Memorial
Building: Philadelphia Vietnam Veterans Memorial
Location: Christopher Columbus Blvd, Penns Landing
Project Overview: Memorial is 20 years old and needed to be cleaned and stone impregnated to reduce staining. During inspection we noticed that the names were not readable and offered a solution to the problem. Also, the caretakers informed us that when it would rain the names on the wall would disappear. Stuart Dean suggested that the names be highlighted with a pearlescent paint to enhance the names to properly pay tribute to the fallen heroes.
Challenge: There was a very tight deadline and other trades performing work in immediate area. Finding the right paint to use on the memorial was a bite of a challenge because we were altering the look of the memorial.
Work Completed: Cleaned, impregnated stone and highlighted heroes names killed in action on memorial, refinished 24 bronze light covers and dedication plaque.
Results: A beautifully restored Philadelphia Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial completed in time for the dedication on 11/19/2009.
Client Feedback: “It is nice to be able to memorialize the fallen heroes and making their families proud of their service to our great nation.”
