Stuart Dean Technicians Restore Wood and Metal at Historic Loews Philadelphia Hotel

NEW YORK CITY– October 18, 2012 – Stuart Dean, an international provider of renowned architectural restoration services, has restored wood paneling and metal hardware throughout the historic Loews Philadelphia Hotel, a skyscraper built in 1929 as the headquarters of the Philadelphia Savings Fund Society (PSFS). Stuart Dean’s skilled technicians restored the paneled walls and ceilings of the hotel’s 42,000 square feet of conference space adhering to strict Architectural Woodwork Institute standards.

Stuart Dean repairs damage to architectural assets and restores surfaces at centuries-old buildings and newly constructed facilities with minimal interruption to business. The company’s advanced processes and products restore wood, metal and other architectural appointments and protect surfaces from staining and deterioration caused by environmental contamination and everyday use. "With exceptional guest accommodations and historical appointments, we cater to the world's most discerning guests at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel," said Danny Smith, director of engineering. "The work performed by Stuart Dean to restore our conference space is right in line with the goal our overall maintenance of the property – to retain the timeless elegance the building is known for."

Considered one of the most significant buildings of the 20th century, the Loews Philadelphia Hotel is a National Historic Landmark. PSFS commissioned the construction of the 36-story, 491-foot skyscraper in the midst of the Great Depression. Today, the building’s materials would be nearly impossible to afford. For example, the once three-story banking room is now a banquet space that has preserved the historical features, such as the bank’s safe, Cartier clocks and original marble. The prestigious top floor of the building has also been maintained as part of the hotel.
